Best New Leadership Book Of 2023

Each year, after reading and reviewing dozens of new leadership books, I select my pick for the year's best new leadership book. For 2023, after reading nearly 40 leadership books, my pick for this year’s best new leadership book is When Everyone Leads .   It’s a terrific book that captured my attention back in January when I wrote this on my blog: “It’s only January and the new book,  When Everyone Leads , could likely be my pick for the best new leadership book of 2023. It’s that good. There’s still nearly a whole year ahead of us so we’ll see what other books debut. In the meantime, add this book to your must-read list.”   I selected this book to be this year’s winner because it is full of specific examples of challenges and solutions from fields as diverse as nonprofits, school boards, healthcare, and the corporate world. It offers proven, actionable approaches for any company, organization, or community to navigate through that entity’s most pressing chal...

Because 2018 was a year filled with communication challenges for so many people.   Often, those conversations were ineffective and unhealthy, causing frustration, conflict and distress. Published toward the end of 2018, Sofer’s book teaches you  how to find your voice, speak your truth and listen deeply . Most important, via the book, Sofer provides us the skill necessary to transform communication into a vehicle for greater intimacy, honesty, and compassion to bring us to greater equity and peace. And, that’s why,  Say What You Mean ,  is my pick for B est New Leadership Book for 2018 . The overarching framework for the book is taking  three steps to create effective conversation : Lead with presence  – show up and be fully in the moment. Come from curiosity and care  – rooted in the foundation of our intention. Focus ...

Each year, after reading and reviewing dozens of new leadership books, I select my pick for the year's best new leadership book . For 2019, that book is Paul Smith's, The 10 Stories Great Leaders Tell , released this past summer. I selected this book as best for its innovative format, timely and pertinent content, and how easy it is to put what Paul teaches to immediate use as a leader. All of Paul Smith’s three books on storytelling are must-reads for business leaders, salespeople and parents. And, The 10 Stories Great Leaders Tell , is yet another required read for leaders – managers, CEOs and team leaders. “ Every great leader is a great storyteller. And, the first and most important part of being a great storyteller is knowing what stories to tell ,” explains Paul. In fact, “ What stories you tell is more important than how you tell them ,” he adds. Part of an innovative book format from  IgniteReads , Paul’s new book features a bold design and expertly guid...
